23-year-old Surrey batsman Tom Maynard has died.
The talented youngster, who has already represented the England Lions, was found dead on the rails near Wimbledon Park tube station in south London around dawn on Monday morning. Police say the incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
Maynard's death robs English cricket of one of its finest young batting talents. Since making his debut in 2007, he had played a combined total of 161 games on the county circuit, scoring 5,181 runs at an average of 31.21, including six centuries.
His father, Matthew Maynard, was also a talented cricketer, playing 4 Tests and 14 ODI's for England between 1988 and 2000.
