After six years of tertiary education and numerous part-time positions within sport and recreation, Daniel secured an ideal full time role within local government in November 2010.
Away from work, Daniel has 18 years of cricket experience under his belt and has coached and served on committees at numerous clubs. He also plays baseball in winter and is again a member of the club committee.
Sport and recreation is an obvious interest for Daniel and his articles reflect that, especially his knowledge of cricket and football.
The owner, manager and editor in chief of Pen & Paper Sports, Daniel hopes to see the site grow from strength to strength in the future.
Since the change in ownership Melbourne Tigers have wasted no time refreshing the club.
Michael Slepoy took over from Seamus McPeake in February this year and has proven to be no Dodo. Michael Slepoy is the Director of electricity company Dodo and is on a mission to save this basketball club from extinction.
Already we have seen changes to the Tigers logo, some may say it’s a welcoming change; others are a bit disappointed in the overall design. Either way it’s got basketball fans talking about it and has stirred up some emotions.
The focus has been on image and one image that Tigers have been promoting is Lucas Walker, he made Cleo Magazines top 50 most eligible bachelors, obviously not camera shy, posing without a shirt, and very proud of his physique. In my opinion what would be hot would be seeing Lucas Walker playing great basketball!
Tigers have signed up former Adelaide 36ers Adam Ballinger to join current players Ron Dorsey, Tommy Greer, Liam Rush and Lucas Walker. Adding Ballinger to the team would be like adding a V8 engine to a Morris Minor!
This week Tigers have said good bye to Trevor Gleeson, and have welcomed Chris Anstey (former NBL Tigers player & former NBA Chicago Bulls player) as head coach followed by Darryl (D-Mac) McDonald as Assistant coach and Rohan Short. The power of three will work a charm – well it’s yet to be proven. The last time Tigers won a championship was in 2008, this will be a test of Anstey’s coaching abilities, it’s a different world off the court, all eyes will be on Chris, can he deliver? I guess we will have to wait and see!
Metaphorically speaking, Tigers need to unleash the beast because at this point in time Sky City NZ Breakers have the dream team - CJ Bruton, Daryl Corletto, Cedric Jackson, Thomas Abercrombie and Dillon Boucher. Breakers have won the championship back-to-back and will be shaking things up come next season.
