Today in Nashville, the Predators advanced to the Western Conference semi-finals by beating Detroit 3-2 in game five. The go ahead goal came from Preds' center David Legwand, 13 seconds into the third period. The Predators will play against the winner of the LA vs Canucks series.
Pittsburgh avoided elimination with a comeback victory against the Flyers. Pens' goalie Marc Andre-Fleury, who has struggled in the series, stopped 24 shots while his side worked hard for a 3-2 win. The series is now at 3-2 with the Flyers still one victory away from winning the series. The Penguins really need their two big names to step up - Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin - they have both been either shut down really well by the Flyers or are not having a good week. They were both held pointless today.
The playoffs so far have been very interesting, exciting and great to watch. With heaps of overtime wins, comeback wins, fights and goals this first series has proved to be great. San Jose, Pittsburgh and Vancouver are all looking to avoid elimination and their opponents are all looking to win their respective series. New York and Ottawa, Boston and Washington and New Jersey and Florida will all be looking to take their respective series to 3-2 in the coming days.
