You know what grinds my gears? There are supporters who are loyal and then there are others who are nothing more than bloody sell outs - These sell outs are the ones which piss me off!

Throughout the history in sport, every team has a select few supporters who stay loyal through thick and thin, whether their team is successful or if they struggle. Then however, you have those who just jump on board when their team is winning again.

A couple examples to note are the Brisbane Roar FC and the Collingwood Football Club.

Collingwood - They are supposed to be the biggest club in AFL however many people forget that for years they struggled on the field and couldn’t gain support off it. Then, after some notable success over the last four years, they now have over 70 thousand members (even though more than half are just three game members).

Brisbane Roar – This is the team which has always struggled to get crowds, however over the last month, when records are close to being broken, and as recent as four weeks ago people started to jump on board and the crowds increased dramatically.

These are the so-called sell outs I’m referring to – Those who just jump on board as a teams fortune changes for the better.

So should these ‘fans’ be allowed to jump ship every time you lose faith in your team? I say no! They should toughen up, keep loyal and stay there during the tough times... Support your bloody team peahearts!

But then you have the extreme – Something which really grinds my gears... I like to call them, TEAM POACHERS!

Basically, what it means is that teams like Melbourne Heart, Greater Western Sydney, Gold Coast Suns etc go out of their way and do everything in their power to make supporters jump ship. Here is a fact many sports fans don’t know:

Melbourne Victory had twenty-five thousand members before the Heart came to town - Now they have just seventeen thousand.

Now then, should we allow them to do this? I say no – These expansion teams are always backed by a greed for money.

I’m Michael Hopper, you’re not, and this grinds my gears! Grrr!!
