After six years of tertiary education and numerous part-time positions within sport and recreation, Daniel secured an ideal full time role within local government in November 2010.

Away from work, Daniel has 18 years of cricket experience under his belt and has coached and served on committees at numerous clubs. He also plays baseball in winter and is again a member of the club committee.

Sport and recreation is an obvious interest for Daniel and his articles reflect that, especially his knowledge of cricket and football.

The owner, manager and editor in chief of Pen & Paper Sports, Daniel hopes to see the site grow from strength to strength in the future.

Usain Bolt, currently the world’s most popular athlete could be headed down under this summer to play in the T20 Big Bash League for the Melbourne Stars. It has been well publicized that both parties are interested in making this happen, and now his countryman Yohan Blake could also be joining him.

Today, the Sydney Sixers unveiled their plans to recruit Blake, in what would provide tournament organizers with a mouth-watering clash at the MCG in December.

“The new batsman, Yohan Blake. And a bowling change from the Members End, Usain Bolt!”

Both sprinting superstars have cricketing backgrounds. Both know how to draw a crowd. And both icons of the track love to put on a show.

The tactics of the two franchises have been questioned over the past couple of days, with some saying it is taking a spot away from an emerging young talent,  however as Stuart Clark, general manager of the Sydney franchise said today “We’re a franchise trying to make money” and money they shall make should the Jamaicans sign on the dotted line.

Blake recently took 4-10 in a Jamaican league match just prior to the Olympics, and whilst Bolt’s cricketing feats aren’t as recognized, I’m sure no one would question his ability in almost anything.

Shane Warne, the Stars captain has personally asked Bolt to join him at the MCG, whilst president Eddie McGuire has done likewise.

It would be a showdown like no other, an event so unique and would prove these two icons have got a lot more to offer then a 10 or 20 second run.

Not that they need to prove themselves…
